Suzuki of Orangeburg finally broke the string of bad luck and had a complete weekend of solid finishes, highlighted with a seventh place finish in Superstock.
Ben Battles Through Injury To Get Another Top Ten Finish
Millennium/KWS Suzuki sponsored by Suzuki of Orangeburg's Ben Thompson returned to action this week at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah. Thompson broke both of his hands in a crash at California Speedway five weeks earlier and had to have two titanium plates and fourteen screws installed in his right hand. Although healed, Thompson struggled with strength, endurance, and dexterity through out the weekend.
Millennium/KWS Suzuki’s Lee Acree injured at Infineon Raceway
Millennium/KWS Suzuki sponsored by Suzuki of Orangeburg had a difficult weekend despite some extremely fast lap times from replacement rider Lee Acree. 2008 team rider Ben Thompson was injured at Auto Club Speedway two weeks prior and could not compete at Infineon, so 2005 Millennium/KWS Suzuki rider Lee Acree was brought in to ride in Thompson’s absence.
Millennium/KWS Suzuki’s Ben Thompson out for Three Weeks, Lee Acree
Millennium/KWS Suzuki sponsored by Suzuki of Orangeburg’s rider Ben Thompson is out of commission following a violent crash at California Speedway last week in which Thompson broke his right hand. Thompson had surgery Monday with famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. Arthur Ting. Ting installed two plates and fourteen screws in Thompson’s right hand. Thompson is expected to be unable to race for three weeks and will miss the Infineon AMA Superbike round. The Millennium Technologies sponsored team is expecting Thompson to be back at the Miller Motorsports Park AMA Superbike round on May 28th.
Ben Thompson in the Top Ten at VIR
Millennium/KWS Suzuki sponsored by Ron Ayers Motorsports made the best of a difficult situation at Virginia International Raceway when both team riders John Haner and David Weber were unable to ride for the weekend. John Haner was diagnosed with pneumonia earlier this week and David Weber fell in Thursday practice, injuring his wrist. Privateer Ben Thompson was brought in to replace Haner for the weekend and did an incredible job of adapting to the Millennium/KWS Suzuki GSX-R1000 and finishing in the top fifteen in both Superbike races and in the top ten in Superstock.

Millennium/KWS Suzuki sponsored by Ron Ayers Motorsport’s team rider John Haner has come down with a severe case of pneumonia and will be unable to compete this weekend at Virginia International Raceway. Privateer Ben Thompson has been brought into the team as a replacement rider for this event.
Money and Speed Required
Earlier this season, Anchorage racer Ben Thompson discovered that his financial backer would not be able to come through. Ben has kept his chin up and continued to keep in shape by racing enduroes, sprints and the occasional WERA (Western Eastern Racing Association) sanctioned event. In 2005 Thompson sported the #1 plate in that circuit.
