My name is Ben Thompson. I am 23 years old and from Anchorage, Alaska. I am a professional motorcycle roadracer, having just completed my third full season. My primary focus in ’06 was competing in the WERA National Challenge Series. Additional race series in which I competed this year included: AMA Superbike and Superstock Series, WERA Regional Series, CMRA, ASRA, Championship Cup Series and the AMA Grand Championship Series.
As we head into the 2007 AMA Superbike Championship season, I am seeking sponsorship in the form of monetary support and/or product and equipment contributions to underwrite and advance my roadracing career.

2006 was a highly successful season for me as I was on the podium every race weekend. In addition to winning many national and regional events, I also captured two expert-class national championships. Most notable was my winning of the 600 Supersport and 1000 Superbike National Championships in the AMA Grand National Series while. I also claimed the coveted AMA Superbike pole position and finished in a very respectable 10th place competing against many factory-supported teams, and riding inferior equipment.
- 4th place 1000 overall Superstock
- 4th place overall Formula One
- Multiple National Wins
- 15 podium positions
- 600 Supersport National Champion
- 1000 Superbike National Champion
- 16th place at Miller Motorsports Park
- 10th place at Mid Ohio (top privateer)
- 1st place in Superbike Heat Race
- Pole position at Mid Ohio
I ran in front of many factory riders including Ben Spies and Mat Mladin for a good portion of the race as well. I am very proud of this race as it was a testament to my riding skill, not my equipment. I set two track records as well. I received a lot of different types of media coverage this year when people started noticing that I was a consistent frontrunner everywhere I went. Media exposure included: Speed Channel, Road Racer X, Road Racing World, Anchorage Press, Cycle Space, Superbike Planet, Cycle News, Midnight Sun Rider, Rider and other bike industry publications, local and national media.
My greatest challenge this year was being the proverbial “privateer” in the truest sense of the word – I did most everything myself and with the help of one of my mechanics. I had a lot of help from Evan Steel Performance; they poured everything they had into our program (which was endless hours of free labor). Getting to and from races and transporting the necessary equipment had me on the road by myself for months on end between March and October, while racking up more than 70,000 miles this year. Unlike factory riders, we had NO budget and were forced to sit out the races for a month during the middle of the season because I didn’t have the gas money to get anywhere. That’s when Lester Racing stepped up and started helping me as much as they could.
It was then that everything started to turn around and people started asking themselves, “Who is this Ben Thompson kid?” After only our second AMA Superbike race, we broke into the top 10. We were dominant from the moment we unloaded and placed as high as 2nd fastest in the practice rounds before qualifying on pole. Lester Racing and Evan Steel Performance along with this “Ben Thompson kid” will be teaming up for our first full season of AMA Superbike for 2007. Look for a consistent dominating performance the AMA series as well as in select rounds of the WERA National Challenge series. We will be racing out of our 90 foot Freightliner semi, which will be fully wrapped and will create a lot of strong advertising opportunities for our sponsors. We will be pitted right along side all of the Factory trucks and plan on putting in the same performance as them as well.
My 2005 season was also very successful, placing me on the podium 11 out of 11 times during the WERA National Challenge Series. Listed below are some the highlights:
- 750 Superbike National Champion
- 1000 Superstock National Champion
- Formula 1, 2nd place in Championship
- 3rd place overall (w/ Red Star Yamaha)
